Training Opportunities for Scouts
BSA, our council, and our troop all offer amazing leadership training opportunities for youth. There are a plethora of training programs available, and many aren't listed below. However, the following are some of the major leadership training opportunities for youth.
ILST is the first, basic leadership training course offered by our troop. Scouts who haven't been trained and attend our ILST campout will be able to attend this weekend-long class taught by our youth leadership.
NYLT is a more advanced youth leadership training course offered at the council level. Scouts will attend a week-long camp located at Camp Echokotee (St. Johns River Base) where they will be trained by youth leadership. More information is available on the North Florida Council website. Requires ILST training to attend.
NAYLE is the national-level leadership training program for scouts who wish to maximize their leadership training. Located at either Philmont Scout Ranch and Summit Scout Reservation, NAYLE is a week-long camp where scouts will extend the knowledge they gained from NYLT. Requires NYLT training to attend.
There are additional training courses offered by other scouting programs such as Order of the Arrow and Venturing BSA. Check their websites for more information.
