Every year, our Patrol Leaders Council and Senior Troop Leadership decide on a national BSA high adventure camp to attend for the summer. High adventure is intense, more focused activities and camps located at one of BSA's national high adventure bases. There are four BSA High Adventure bases around the country where groups can choose from many high adventure options.
Located in Northern New Mexico on the entrance to the Rocky Mountains. Philmont Scout Ranch is the largest and most famous scout reservation. With 140,171 acres of mountainous land, Philmont backcountry is well-known for its beauty. Philmont's anchor program involves backpacking through this vast land, participating in many activities and camping along the way.
Located in the Keys of Florida and around the Caribbean, BSA's Sea Base is home to a wide array of high adventure opportunities. From island camping, boating, and fishing, Sea Base has a lot to offer.Â
The Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia offers just about anything you can think of when it comes to activities. Leadership training, shooting sports, ATVs, mountain biking, and white-water rafting, are only a few exciting options that Summit has to offer. Summit is known for its size and variety of programs as well as its advanced and excitement-packed campus. There's even a massive zip-line running right through camp!
Northern Tier, located in the boundary waters between Minnesota and Canada, is a large scout reserve hosting many high adventure programs. The focus of most of these programs is canoeing through the boundary waters and enjoying the well-known and striking scenery.
